Landslide Causes Major Disruption

A substantial landslide occurred on the Adi Kailash route near Elagarh in Uttarakhand's Pithoragarh district, leading to large boulders blocking the road and halting traffic. Personnel from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) are currently engaged in efforts to clear the route. As a result, local residents and pilgrims heading to Adi Kailash are temporarily stranded, with long lines of vehicles forming on either side of the blockage.

A team from the BRO has been dispatched to the site, utilizing excavators to facilitate the reopening of the road. Some individuals have attempted to navigate the area at their own risk. As per the latest updates, the road has been partially cleared, allowing for a slight resumption of traffic.

Dharchula Sub Divisional Magistrate Manjit Singh and Police in-charge Vijendra Sah visited the site to assess the situation. Authorities have successfully rescued tourists trapped in the landslide area and relocated them to safer locations. Fortunately, there have been no reported casualties.

Officials Manjit Singh and Superintendent of Police (SP) Rekha Yadav have urged travelers to remain patient and seek safe accommodations until the road is fully reopened. They anticipate that the road will be completely cleared by late evening. 'The efforts to restore the road are being conducted with urgency,' stated Manjit Singh.
