IMD Weather LIVE Updates: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted extensive rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds affecting various regions of India beginning May 25 and lasting until the month's end. States in the southern, western, northeastern, eastern, and central parts of the country are likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall, with certain areas facing very heavy to extremely heavy downpours. On Saturday evening (May 24), heavy rains and thunderstorms hit Delhi-NCR, resulting in significant waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and power outages across multiple locations in the city.


A depression located over the east-central Arabian Sea and the adjacent south Konkan coast made landfall near Ratnagiri on Saturday, May 24, as reported by the IMD. This system, which had been moving eastward at a speed of 5 km/h, is gradually weakening and is anticipated to evolve into a well-marked low-pressure area as it moves into Madhya Maharashtra within the next 24 hours.


From May 25 to 30, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Kerala and Mahe, with isolated areas likely to experience extremely heavy rain on May 25 and 26. Additionally, Coastal and South Interior Karnataka will continue to see heavy rainfall until May 27, with conditions intensifying further from May 28 to 30. North Interior Karnataka is also forecasted to receive substantial rainfall during this timeframe.
