Jagannath Rath Yatra Set to Begin in Puri

The Jagannath Rath Yatra is scheduled to commence in Puri on June 27. This annual event attracts thousands of devotees from across the nation who come to seek blessings from Lord Jagannath. In light of this, local authorities have implemented stringent security measures to ensure the safety and convenience of the attendees. Notably, this year marks the first deployment of the National Security Guard (NSG) and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to monitor the crowd.

AI-Powered Chatbot for Devotees

To enhance the experience for pilgrims, the Puri administration is utilizing AI technology. A chatbot has been introduced to assist visitors during the Rath Yatra. This tool will help devotees identify the best routes to take and inform them of any obstacles along the way, suggesting alternative paths if necessary. Additionally, the chatbot will provide information on available parking spaces in Puri.

AI Utilization in Crowd Management

According to police officials, AI is being integrated into CCTV systems to monitor crowd density. This technology will help identify areas with high foot traffic, allowing for timely route adjustments to manage the flow of people effectively.

Robust Security Arrangements

This year, the administration has made unprecedented security arrangements for the Rath Yatra in Odisha. DGP YB Khurania stated that, based on intelligence inputs, the NSG and their snipers will be deployed for the first time during this event.

NSG Deployment: A Historic First

This marks the inaugural deployment of the NSG at the Rath Yatra, which will include their Quick Action Team and snipers.

Increased Security Personnel

Over 10,000 police officers will be stationed, significantly more than in previous years. Additionally, personnel from the Rapid Action Force (RAF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Border Security Force (BSF) will also be on duty to ensure safety.

Drone Surveillance and Anti-Drone Measures

Drone usage for security monitoring has been significantly increased. Preparations are in place to neutralize any unauthorized drones that may appear during the event.

Integrated Control Room

An integrated control room has been established, staffed by senior officials from various agencies who will be available 24/7 to address any issues that may arise promptly.

Special Arrangements for Women and Children

Special provisions have been made for the safety of women and children participating in the Yatra. Assistance centers will be set up at regular intervals to provide necessary support.
