Central Government Requests Land for IIT Establishment in Haryana

Chandigarh News: The central government has approached the Haryana state government to secure land for the establishment of an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). A total of 300 acres will be acquired for this purpose. Following directives from the Ministry of Human Resource Development and the Directorate of Technical Education, preparations have commenced. The Director of Technical Education has sent letters to all district commissioners in the state requesting the necessary land.

The government has stipulated that the acquisition of 300 acres is essential for the IIT's establishment. Both the central and state governments will decide whether the identified location is suitable for the project. Approval for the project will only be granted once this decision is made. In light of this, BJP MPs from Haryana have begun lobbying to ensure that the IIT is located within their parliamentary constituencies.

BJP MPs Lobbying for IIT Location

The active lobbying efforts by BJP MPs suggest that the IIT may be established in their respective areas. Haryana is represented by three central ministers: Manohar Lal Khattar from Karnal, Rao Inderjit from Gurugram, and Krishan Pal Gurjar from Faridabad, increasing the likelihood of the institute being set up in one of these regions.

However, following the government's requirement for 300 acres of land, MP Chaudhary Dharmbir from Bhiwani is also striving to bring the IIT to his constituency. Additionally, Cabinet Minister Ranbir Gangwa from Hisar is making efforts as well, especially since the Haryana government has already acquired land adjacent to the airport in Hisar.
