Border Security Foils Major Infiltration Attempt Amid Rising Tensions in Jammu and Kashmir

Infiltration Attempt Thwarted
The Border Security Force reported that a significant infiltration attempt was thwarted along the international border in the Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday night, coinciding with escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
This incident occurred around 11 PM, shortly after the Pakistani military targeted Indian military installations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur using missiles and drones.
Samba district is adjacent to Jammu and Udhampur.
The Integrated Defence Staff confirmed that the Indian armed forces effectively neutralized the Pakistani threat using both kinetic and non-kinetic methods, with no casualties reported.
In response to the situation, a blackout was implemented in various North Indian cities due to concerns over potential drone attacks from Pakistan. Residents in Jammu reported hearing explosions and witnessing missile trails in the sky.
Blackouts were enforced in Samba, Jammu, Baramulla, Kishtwar, as well as in Amritsar and Jalandhar in Punjab, and Bikaner in Rajasthan.
This escalation followed Indian military strikes on Wednesday targeting what were described as terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, in retaliation for a recent terror attack in Pahalgam. The operation, dubbed Operation Sindoor, involved strikes on nine sites.
Reports indicate that at least 31 individuals were killed and 46 injured in Pakistan as a result of these strikes, according to international news sources. Islamabad has claimed that the strikes resulted in civilian casualties and labeled the operation a breach of its sovereignty.
Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated that Operation Sindoor was executed with precision and care to avoid civilian harm, emphasizing that the action was deliberate and aimed at de-escalation.
In retaliation, the Pakistan Army shelled Indian villages along the Line of Control, resulting in 16 fatalities, as reported by India's defence ministry.
On Thursday, Indian forces announced they had thwarted attempts by Pakistan to deploy drones and missiles targeting military sites across 15 towns and cities the previous night.
The Pakistani military claimed to have downed 25 Indian drones that had entered its airspace since the escalation began, asserting that these drones were aimed at major cities like Lahore and Karachi.
The terror attack in the Baisaran area near Pahalgam on April 22 resulted in 26 deaths and 17 injuries, with attackers reportedly identifying victims by their names to determine their religion, according to police reports. Most of the deceased were Hindu.
