Ngarava Achieves Milestone in T20 Internationals

In a remarkable performance during the tri-series opener at Harare Sports Club on July 14, Zimbabwe's left-arm seamer Richard Ngarava emerged as the leading wicket-taker for his country in T20 internationals.

Ngarava claimed three wickets in his four-over spell, allowing 35 runs with an economy rate of 8.8. He dismissed Lhuan-de Pretorius for a duck, Reeza Hendricks for 11, and Rubin Hermann, who scored 45 runs.

With these wickets, Ngarava surpassed all-rounder Sikandar Raza, becoming Zimbabwe's all-time leading wicket-taker in T20s with a total of 83 wickets, while Raza has 81.

In a parallel achievement, South Africa's Lungi Ngidi matched the legendary Dale Steyn's record for the most T20I wickets for the Proteas during the same match. Ngidi's economical bowling saw him finish with figures of 1/15 in four overs.

Ngidi's wicket of Wessly Madheve, who was dismissed for 1 after inadvertently touching the stumps with his back foot, brought his T20I tally to 64 wickets, tying him with Steyn. Notably, Ngidi reached this milestone in 44 matches, three fewer than Steyn's 47.

Leading the charts is left-arm wrist spinner Tabraiz Shamsi, who has taken 89 wickets in 70 matches, followed by Kagiso Rabada with 71 wickets in 65 games.
