Significant Interest in CMAAA 2.0
Guwahati, June 26: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has revealed that the second phase of the Atmanirbhar Asom Abhiyan, referred to as CMAAA 2.0, has attracted considerable attention, with over 100,000 applications submitted statewide.
This initiative, which encompasses all 35 districts, is designed to empower the youth of Assam by providing opportunities in entrepreneurship and skill-based employment.
Official statistics indicate that more than 81,200 candidates have already participated in interviews as part of the program.
The enthusiastic response highlights the increasing ambitions of young individuals eager to contribute to the economic development of the state, whether through agriculture, manufacturing, or the growing service industry.
The Chief Minister noted, “The diversity of participants is remarkable: from novice entrepreneurs with fresh ideas to experienced professionals aiming to establish businesses in their local areas.”
“This mission is pivotal in the state government's plan to foster a self-sufficient Assam by harnessing the energy and potential of its youth,” he added.
As the selection process progresses, officials are hopeful that CMAAA 2.0 will cultivate a new wave of job creators, thereby reducing reliance on external job markets and stimulating local economic growth.
Previously, Sarma emphasized that Assam has emerged as a leader in economic empowerment for women, with the government providing financial support to at least 2.5 million women through its flagship initiatives.
Sarma reviewed district-specific advancements related to the Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan and offered recommendations to resolve various challenges, including expediting backend processes to ensure that Rs 10,000 can be disbursed to female beneficiaries promptly.
He stated that the government aims to empower women through this initiative, as its successful execution will help achieve the goal of 'Atmanirbhar Nari'.
It is noteworthy that the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan aims to assist women Self-Help Groups in becoming rural micro-entrepreneurs, enabling them to generate annual income through grants provided as entrepreneurship funds.
CM Sarma also acknowledged the readiness of district administrations for the timely distribution of flood relief funds via Direct Benefit Transfer.
He instructed District Collectors to finalize the dates for the formal distribution of financial aid to flood-affected individuals.
Additionally, the CM requested the DCs to coordinate with Guardian Ministers to set dates for the distribution of benefits under the Anundoram Borooah Cash Award Scheme, as well as for bicycle and scooty distributions and the microfinance loan waiver initiative.
