Overview of Amarnath Yatra 2025

The Amarnath Yatra in 2025 is expected to draw millions of devotees from across India and abroad. This annual pilgrimage to the sacred Amarnath cave, where a naturally formed ice Shiva Lingam is worshipped, ranks among the most revered Hindu pilgrimages. The official start date for the Amarnath Yatra 2025 has been set for July 3, 2025, concluding on August 9, 2025, coinciding with the festival of Raksha Bandhan. Preparations for security during the pilgrimage are currently underway.

Security Measures for the Pilgrimage

For this year's Amarnath Yatra, a total of 581 companies from various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) will be deployed. This pilgrimage will be conducted over a shorter duration of 38 days for the first time. Additionally, jammers will be installed to enhance the security of the pilgrimage convoy, which will be protected by the CAPF. To ensure maximum safety during the convoy's passage, all roads leading to the pilgrimage routes and national highways will be temporarily blocked.

Enhanced Safety Protocols

In addition to these measures, road opening parties (ROP) will be deployed to secure and clear the routes, while quick action teams (QAT) will respond to any threats. Bomb disposal squads (BDS) will be responsible for detecting and neutralizing explosives, and specially trained canine units (K9) will assist in security efforts. Drones will also be utilized for aerial surveillance. These arrangements will be implemented on both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes leading to the Amarnath cave temple in Jammu and Kashmir.
