Is shaving good for facial skin? Can it be stopped?
Shaving is a personal choice and doing it properly minimizes the chance of any side effects. You can opt for alternative facial hair removal techniques when you don't like to shave frequently. Dermaplaning is one such technique for facial hair removal.

Ways to remove facial hair without shaving

1. Waxing

This is an inexpensive technique for removing facial hair. This procedure works when your hair is at least 1/4 inch or longer. It can be done in a salon or at home, in which a hard wax is spread on the face while warm and can be removed without the use of a cloth after drying.

2. Threading
In this, a thread is used to pull the strands of hair from the root. It is usually done for the upper lip, cheeks, forehead and sideburns. The main drawback is that it hurts a lot but the results last for 4-6 weeks.

3. Dermaplaning
This is an anti-aging treatment in which facial hair is also removed using a flat razor that removes the top dead layer of skin. The hair is not removed from the root but the dead skin cells are removed, so it makes the skin smooth.

4. Laser hair removal
This is an almost permanent hair removal technique that is often used to target hair on the upper chin and lips. You may feel some pinching during the procedure but the pain is negligible as cold air is blown or a cold blast of water is used during the procedure.

5. Sugar
A natural paste made of sugar is applied to the skin to gently remove the hair in its normal growth direction. Unlike waxing, it does not remove the top layer of skin and is therefore gentler on the skin. You can use this for short hairs, even if they are less than 1/4 inch long. The results of this hair removal process last for 1-2 months.
