Ramadan 2023 Rice Kheer Chawal ki Kheer Recipe

Kheer, Payesh, Payasam - many names, a delicious dessert. The word kheer is derived from the Sanskrit word 'skir', which means milk. Rice kheer or chawal ki kheer is a classic dessert served in Indian households during Ramadan festivals, celebrations and special occasions. The creamy texture of the rice pudding mixed with the crunch of almonds and pistachios, makes this popular dish the perfect dessert for any occasion of the day or whenever the mood strikes for something sweet. While the traditional way of making chawal ki kheer may take longer, condensed milk can speed up the process. Many believe that the instant version of this delicious dessert compromises on taste, but the truth is that you'll get the same rich texture and flavor. Our pudding recipe with condensed milk has a mildly sweet, milky taste and soft texture.

Tips

Pinch the grain of rice to check if it is cooked. If it mashes easily, it is fully cooked.

You can add a teaspoon of rose water or kevara water to enhance the taste of the recipe. You can also add chopped cashews, raisins and almonds to the dish.
In a matter of seconds, the milk can be completely burnt. So, be careful while boiling milk. Keep stirring the milk so that it does not burn. You can also cook the pudding on medium-low flame to avoid burning the milk.
