Mukul Dev's Unique Talent in Dubbing

Mukul Dev showcased his versatile acting abilities by providing the voice for Naseeruddin Shah in the film 'Shoot On Sight', directed by Jagmohan Mundhra. His task was to imitate Shah's distinctive baritone with precision.

A close associate of Mundhra shared insights into the meticulous process, stating, 'Once Naseer indicated he would not lend his voice for the Hindi adaptation of my film, Jag Mundhra sought a voice that could closely match Naseer’s tone, speech patterns, and intonations. He insisted on having an actor for the dubbing, as only then could the artist grasp the essence of what Naseer intended to convey.'

With this in mind, Mundhra took a hands-on approach, working directly with Mukul during the dubbing sessions to ensure every nuance of Naseer’s voice was captured accurately.

Mukul recalled, 'Indeed, Jag Mundhra had me mimic Naseer down to the finest detail. This was the only dubbing project he personally supervised, staying with me throughout the recording of all of Naseer Saab’s dialogues.'

The late Jag Mundhra praised Mukul Dev's dubbing talent, stating, 'Mukul Dev sounded just like Naseer. However, he is not Naseer. Ultimately, audiences watch a film for the story, not just to identify the voice behind it.'
