Deepika Padukone Reflects on India's Oscar Journey

Deepika Padukone has voiced her belief that numerous Indian films have been overlooked for Oscars, despite their deserving nature.

In a recent Instagram video, the actress, preparing for a Louis Vuitton event in Paris, reminisced about her experience at the Academy Awards when RRR clinched the Best Original Song award for 'Naatu Naatu' in 2023.

She conveyed her frustration, emphasizing how India has been 'robbed of the Oscars' far too often, given its rich cinematic legacy and the immense talent within the industry.

Deepika stated, 'India has faced numerous Oscar snubs. Many deserving films and talents have been overlooked. I remember feeling emotional in the audience when RRR was announced; it was a monumental moment for me, even though I had no direct connection to the film.'

The actress also shared her joy over Adrien Brody's Best Actor win for 'The Brutalist' during this year's Oscars. The video showcased clips from acclaimed Indian films like 'All We Imagine As Light,' 'Laapataa Ladies,' 'Tumbbad,' and 'The Lunchbox,' all of which received international acclaim yet failed to secure nominations.

Deepika was present at the Louis Vuitton show held at the Cour Carre du Louvre, marking her as the first Indian global ambassador for both Louis Vuitton and Cartier.
