India's E-Services Reach Over 21,000: A Comprehensive Overview

Significant Growth in E-Services Across India
New Delhi, June 19: The number of electronic services available across various states and union territories in India has now surpassed 21,062. A significant portion of these services, totaling 7,065, pertains to Local Governance and Utility Services, as detailed in a report published by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) on Thursday.
In April alone, 424 new e-services were introduced by different states and UTs, with Tripura leading in the number of new additions across all sectors, according to the National e-Governance Service Delivery Assessment (NeSDA) report.
Out of the 2,016 mandatory e-services, 1,599 are now accessible online across all 36 states and union territories, marking a saturation rate exceeding 79%. Notably, 16 states and UTs have achieved over 90% saturation, with Maharashtra and Uttarakhand reaching a full 100% saturation.
The report emphasizes Chandigarh's dedication to enhancing public service delivery through the Right to Services (RTS) framework. It also highlights ongoing initiatives aimed at streamlining service delivery and ensuring real-time transparency for citizens.
Additionally, the report provides insights into the e-services offered by states and UTs via their unified service delivery portals, along with the incorporation of three new assessment parameters in the NeSDA framework: Open Government Data, e-participation, and the use of Emerging Technologies.
Best practices are showcased in the report, including comprehensive service delivery portals from Central government ministries, the Goods and Services Tax Portal, and the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
The National e-Governance Service Delivery Assessment (NeSDA) Framework was established by DARPG in 2019 to evaluate the e-service delivery of states, UTs, and Central Ministries as part of a benchmarking initiative covering seven sectors.
Conducted biennially, the NeSDA study allows DARPG to track advancements in e-service delivery across states and UTs through inputs on the NeSDA Way Forward Dashboard, monthly reports, and regular meetings with State Points of Contact (SPoCs). To date, 25 NeSDA Way Forward Monthly Reports and the Annual Report 2023 have been released to assess the status of e-service delivery.
Since its launch in April 2023, this series of NeSDA Monthly Reports has systematically monitored and evaluated the scale and quality of e-services provided across all states and Union Territories, consistently reporting on three key categories: all e-services, mandatory e-services, and those accessible through a unified portal.
