Hyundai's Upcoming Palisade: A New Contender in the Indian SUV Market

Hyundai's Ambitious Plans for the Indian Market
Recently, Hyundai has revealed its extensive strategy to introduce a range of new vehicles in India by 2026. Among these, the Bayon is set to launch soon, followed by the all-new Palisade, expected by 2028, as reported by a leading automotive publication. The company is gearing up for an aggressive rollout of 26 new products that will continue through 2030. In addition to the Palisade, several other models are also on the horizon.
Palisade's Hybrid Powertrain Details
The Palisade will feature a choice between a 2.5-liter four-cylinder turbo petrol engine and a 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbo petrol hybrid engine. This powertrain is capable of delivering approximately 334 horsepower and a peak torque of 460 Nm, with a maximum fuel efficiency of 14.1 km/l. Hyundai is likely to introduce the hybrid variant in India, given the growing interest in hybrid technology. However, the more powerful V6 engine, which produces 290 horsepower and 353 Nm of torque, is unlikely to be available in the Indian market.
Exterior Design of the Hyundai Palisade
The Hyundai Palisade boasts a bold and aggressive SUV design. Key styling features include a vertically slatted grille and vertically aligned headlamps, complemented by a wide grille. The vehicle is equipped with 21-inch, 15-spoke alloy wheels and a silver finish on the body cladding, D pillars, and roof rails. It offers a spacious three-row layout that can accommodate up to eight passengers, with optional second-row captain seats featuring deployable footrests.
Interior Features and Technology
Inside, the Palisade will feature a dual-screen setup, consisting of a 12.3-inch infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital driver display. The SUV is packed with convenience features, including a digital key, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, powered seats, and a 14-speaker Bose sound system. Additionally, it will offer vehicle-to-load functionality, along with an advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) and a built-in dashcam to enhance the luxury experience for buyers.
Pricing and Market Competition
Hyundai aims for the Palisade to compete with established models like the Toyota Fortuner and Skoda Kodiaq. The anticipated launch price is around ₹50 lakh, with the current pricing for the Palisade starting at approximately ₹31.60 lakh, indicating that the new model will likely be positioned within this price range.
