Tamil-Telugu Actor Srikanth Arrested in Drug Case, Sent to Judicial Custody

Chennai Police have apprehended Tamil-Telugu actor Srikanth, also referred to as Sriram, in connection with a drug-related investigation after he tested positive for narcotics and suspicious transactions were detected on his mobile device.
During the interrogation, authorities uncovered evidence linking Srikanth to a drug trafficking network. Following this, he was presented at a magistrate's residence for a hearing, after which he was remanded to judicial custody until July 7. Srikanth is expected to submit a bail application.
On Monday, the Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit (ANIU) summoned Srikanth for questioning, where he reportedly confessed to purchasing cocaine approximately 40 times at a rate of Rs 12,000 per gram. Investigations indicated that he had spent around Rs 4.72 lakh on drugs through Google Pay. A blood test conducted at a government facility confirmed the presence of narcotics.
Background and Career of Srikanth
The arrest falls under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The case originated after Prasad, a former member of the AIADMK IT wing, was detained following an altercation at a pub in Nungambakkam. During questioning, Prasad implicated Srikanth as a frequent customer. Another individual, Pradeep, also testified that he had witnessed Srikanth using drugs at various club parties and identified Prasad as the supplier.
Srikanth was born in Chennai to a Tamil mother from Kumbakonam and a Telugu father from Chittoor. He began his career in 1999 with the television series Jannal – Marabu Kavithaigal. His film debut came in 2002 with the Tamil movie Roja Kootam, followed by the Telugu film Okariki Okaru in 2003.
He has appeared in numerous films, including Manasellam, Varnjalam, Kanna Kandein, Oru Naal Kanavu, Bambara Kannale, Mercury Pookkal, East Coast Road, Poo, Sathurangam, and Nanban. Recently, he featured in the Tamil film Konjam Kadhal Konjam Modhal, the Telugu film Erracheera, and JioCinema’s web series Harikatha.
