NIA Files Charges Against Three Terrorists Linked to Hizb ut-Tahrir
Charges Filed by NIA Against Hizb ut-Tahrir Members
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has submitted a chargesheet against three operatives of Hizb ut-Tahrir (HUT) for allegedly promoting the ideology of the banned terrorist organization and conspiring to raise funds from foreign and other sources.
This information was disclosed in an official statement released on Friday. The chargesheet, filed under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act of 1967, names Kabir Ahmed Aliyar, also known as Kabir Ahmed, Aziz Ahmed, also referred to as Jaleel Aziz Ahmed, and Bawa Bahroodin, known as Mannai Bawa.
The statement from the investigative agency indicated that the accused had conspired with HUT officials to establish an Islamic caliphate in India by obtaining military assistance from anti-India forces and implementing the constitution written by HUT founder Taqi al-Din al-Nabhani.
Investigations revealed that the trio also planned to seek assistance from the Pakistani military through pilgrims undertaking Hajj and Umrah. The NIA noted that the accused were involved in recruiting youth in secret HUT training sessions, radicalizing them with the organization's ideology, which was banned by the Indian government along with all its affiliates last October.
The chargesheet further stated that the accused organized an exhibition showcasing the military capabilities of Islamic nations such as Iran, Turkey, Egypt, and Pakistan, aimed at inciting them to overthrow India's legitimate government through violent jihad and warfare.
