NIA Conducts Extensive Raids in Kashmir: What’s Behind the Terror Funding Investigation?

NIA Raids Across Kashmir Valley
Srinagar: On Thursday, agents from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) executed a series of raids across various locations in the Kashmir Valley. These actions are part of an ongoing inquiry into a case involving terror funding and conspiracy.
With support from local police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), NIA officials targeted several sites in the Reban area of Shopian district, as well as Nildoora and Chak-e-Choland in Kulgam district. Additional raids were conducted in Manzgam, Devsar, Sonigam, and Bugam in Pulwama district, Sopore in Baramulla district, and Kupwara district.
Reports indicate that NIA operations are currently taking place at 32 different locations throughout Jammu and Kashmir.
According to NIA sources, a formal statement will be released following the completion of the day's activities.
As of the latest updates, there has been no information regarding any arrests or items recovered during the raids.
Further details are anticipated.
Sources suggest that these searches are linked to a conspiracy case involving overground workers (OGWs) associated with various terrorist groups.
The NIA is also investigating several high-profile crimes, including notorious terror attacks within the union territory. Notably, the agency is looking into the April 22 attack by the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Baisaran meadow, Pahalgam.
In this tragic incident, 26 civilians, including one Nepali national, were killed after being targeted based on their religion. The victims included 25 tourists and a local pony owner who lost his life while attempting to rescue them. All but one of the victims were Hindus.
Additionally, the NIA is probing the June 9, 2024, Reasi terror attack, where terrorists targeted a bus carrying pilgrims, resulting in the deaths of nine individuals and injuries to 33 others, including women and children.
The agency has previously arrested and investigated cases against prominent figures such as JKLF chief Yasin Malik, senior separatist leaders Shabir Shah, Nayeem Khan, and MP Engineer Rashid.
