Latest Arrest in Indore Murder Investigation

Indore: The Meghalaya Police's Special Investigation Team (SIT) has apprehended another suspect linked to the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi. The individual, identified as Lokendra Singh Tomar, is reportedly the owner of the flat where Raja's wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, resided from May 25 to June 7 after returning to Indore.

Tomar was taken into custody at MK Plaza in Gwalior around 4:30 PM and subsequently transported to Indore. This latest arrest brings the total number of individuals detained in this case to eight.

On Sunday, the police had previously arrested Silome James, a property dealer and tenant in Indore’s Heera Bagh Colony, where Sonam had stayed after returning from Meghalaya, along with Balla Ahirwar, a security guard at the same building. They are accused of assisting Sonam and her alleged accomplice, Raj Kushwaha, in concealing evidence.

Silome James was captured at the Bhonrasa toll plaza in Dewas district around 7:30 PM on June 21 while attempting to escape to Bhopal. He was later taken to Indore, where he was shown the location where he allegedly incinerated a box belonging to Sonam, which contained various items, including jewelry, a laptop, and a firearm purportedly owned by Kushwaha.

Balla Ahirwar, who had fled to his hometown, was also apprehended in the Ashok Nagar district of Madhya Pradesh. Three alleged contract killers are currently in custody in Meghalaya.

On Saturday, a Meghalaya court placed Kushwaha and Sonam in judicial custody. Three members of the SIT have been in Madhya Pradesh since June 17, investigating various locations associated with the suspects.

Sonam and Raja were married on May 11 and went on their honeymoon in Meghalaya on May 20. They were reported missing on May 23 from Sohra town in the East Khasi Hills district.

Raja's decomposed body was discovered in a deep gorge on June 2, while Sonam, initially thought to be missing, was arrested in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, on June 9.
