Significant Maoist Casualties in Chhattisgarh

In a significant operation, security forces have reportedly killed at least 27 Maoists in the Abujhmad region of Narayanpur district, Chhattisgarh, early Wednesday. The confrontation has been ongoing for approximately 50 hours along the border between Narayanpur and Bijapur. The reserve forces were conducting an operation in the area following intelligence reports indicating the presence of high-ranking members of the Maad division of Maoists.


State Home Minister Vijay Sharma confirmed that the operation has been active for the past 72 hours, with over 26 Maoists confirmed dead during the encounter on Wednesday. According to reports, a prominent leader of the CPI (Maoist), Nambala Keshavrao, also known as Basavaraj, has been killed in the clash.


Notable CPI (Maoist) Leader Eliminated


Reports indicate that Nambala Keshavrao, the General Secretary of CPI (Maoist), was among those killed. The region is notorious for insurgent activities. Basavaraj, who previously led the group’s Central Military Commission, is believed to be one of the key figures among the 26 Maoists killed in the firefight involving COBRA commandos and Chhattisgarh police. Other notable casualties include Madhu, a senior member of the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee, and Naveen, associated with the group's publication wing, Jung.
