In a significant operation targeting the illegal drug trade, the CIA Team of Police District Nurpur successfully recovered 1.345 kilograms of charas from a vehicle near Harad Bridge. Two individuals have been apprehended in connection with this case.
Profiles of the Arrested Individuals
- Ashwani Kumar (38), son of Shri Prakash Chand, hailing from Village & Post Office Bhali, Tehsil & Police Station Jawali, District Kangra (Himachal Pradesh).
- Sunil Rana alias Ishu (29), son of Shri Jagroop Singh, residing in Village & Post Office Sahwan, Tehsil & Police Station Shahpur, District Kangra (Himachal Pradesh).
Details of the Operation
Following a tip-off, the CIA team established a checkpoint near Harad Bridge. During the operation, they inspected a suspicious Alto car (registration number HP40A-7048) in the presence of independent witnesses. A black plastic packet containing 1.345 kg of charas was discovered beneath the driver's seat.
The narcotics and the vehicle involved in the trafficking were promptly seized, leading to the arrest of both suspects. A case has been filed at Police Station Nurpur under Sections 20 & 29 of the NDPS Act. Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify the primary sources and broader network associated with this illegal activity.
