Concerns Rise Over US Weapons in Hands of Pakistan-Based Terrorists

Introduction
Guwahati, June 28: Recent developments have raised alarms as advanced weaponry and communication devices, originally left by the US Army in Afghanistan, have reportedly fallen into the possession of terrorist groups operating from Pakistan.
Background of US Withdrawal
The United States initiated air strikes against the Taliban and Al Qaeda in Afghanistan back in October 2001, which was succeeded by military operations. The complete withdrawal of US forces occurred in August 2021, leaving behind a significant cache of advanced weaponry that has now been seized by terrorist factions.
Weapons Supplied to Terrorists
According to official sources, terrorists infiltrating India from Pakistan are equipped with high-tech weaponry, including M4 carbines, armor-piercing ammunition, and night vision gear. They are also utilizing encrypted military-grade communication systems.
Impact on Jammu and Kashmir
It has been noted that the arms abandoned by Allied Forces in Afghanistan have reached Pakistan-backed terrorists operating in Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, drones have been employed to transport military supplies across the border, occasionally dropping payloads on targeted locations near the frontier.
Security Concerns
These revelations emerged following the recovery of weapons during operations against terrorist groups supported by Pakistan, highlighting the serious implications of such sophisticated arms falling into the wrong hands.
Sources indicate that Pakistan is actively facilitating the infiltration of terrorists across the border. There have been instances where the Pakistan Army has engaged Indian forces in skirmishes to assist in these infiltrations.
Launch Pads and Infiltration Tactics
There are currently at least 141 active launch pads in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK), supported by the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI). These launch pads are strategically located along the Line of Control (LoC) and the international border, serving as entry points for terrorists into India.
Moreover, tunnels have been constructed to facilitate the infiltration of terrorists from Pakistan, with the evident backing of the Pakistan Army, which enables these groups to approach a heavily fortified border without detection.
