CBI Conducts 19-Hour Raid at CGHS Office in Meerut
Overview of the Raid
The Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) office in Meerut was the site of a CBI raid that lasted nearly 19 hours. Following the operation, the CBI team departed for Ghaziabad with Additional Director of Health, Dr. Natasha Verma, who is set to be presented in a CBI court there.
Details of the Operation
The CGHS dispensary is located in the Surajkund area of the Noauchandi police station jurisdiction, where the office of the Additional Director of Health is also situated. On Thursday evening, two white vehicles entered through the main gate of the dispensary. Upon arrival, the occupants headed straight for the office of the Additional Director and locked the main entrance from the inside.
Commotion Caused by CBI Presence
Initially, the staff present at the dispensary were unaware of the situation. However, once they noticed the CBI team entering the Additional Director's office, panic ensued. It quickly became clear that a raid was underway, leading the CBI team to take control of the office and begin questioning the Additional Director.
Previous Raid in August 2025
This marks the second CBI raid at the CGHS dispensary within just nine months. On the night of August 12, 2025, a similar operation was conducted, resulting in the detention of the then Additional Director, Ajay Kumar, and office superintendent, Lavesh Solanki, under the Prevention of Corruption Act for allegedly soliciting a bribe of 500,000 rupees.
Staff Restricted During the Raid
As the CBI team arrived at the dispensary, chaos erupted. Staff members from other departments attempted to exit the premises but were stopped by the CBI, who requested their cooperation. Consequently, many employees were held inside the dispensary for several hours, with some family members arriving in search of them.
Team Departs with Additional Director
A CBI team has left with the Additional Director, a female officer, heading to her residence in Gangnagar. This action mirrors the previous raid, where the CBI also searched the home of the then Additional Director.
