Zverev Secures Spot in Quarter-finals

Alexander Zverev faced an early challenge but ultimately secured his place in the quarter-finals of Roland Garros, where he will meet the promising Rafael Jodar. The World No. 3 managed to recover from a 0-3 deficit in the first set, defeating Jesper de Jong with a score of 7-6(3), 6-4, 6-1 on Court Philippe-Chatrier, marking his sixth consecutive year reaching this stage in Paris.

Despite a rocky start against the World No. 106, Zverev improved his performance and won the match in two hours and 14 minutes. The 29-year-old German is now one step closer to winning his first Grand Slam title, having converted four out of seven break points against De Jong.

As a three-time major finalist, including a runner-up finish at Roland Garros in 2024, Zverev is one of only two Top-10 players remaining in the men's singles draw, alongside World No. 6 Felix Auger-Aliassime. With this victory, Zverev has reached his eighth quarter-final at Roland Garros, tying him for sixth place in the Open Era for the most quarter-final appearances at this clay-court major.

If Zverev triumphs over Rafael Jodar on Tuesday, he will advance to his fifth semi-final in Paris. This match will be their first encounter, with the 19-year-old Jodar having previously defeated Pablo Carreno Busta 4-6, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-2.

"Initially, I struggled a bit. I didn't start strong, while he came out fast and played well. However, once I found my rhythm, I felt very comfortable on the court, which is crucial for me. I believe my game is there; now it's about demonstrating it during matches," Zverev commented, as reported by the ATP Tour.

Fonseca's Remarkable Journey Continues

In another exciting development, Joao Fonseca, after achieving the biggest win of his career, delivered another stellar performance on Sunday night, reaching his first Grand Slam quarter-final. Just two days after coming back from two sets down to defeat 24-time major champion Novak Djokovic, the Brazilian talent overcame Casper Ruud with a score of 7-5, 7-6(8), 5-7, 6-2, continuing his remarkable journey in Paris.
