Crawley's Impressive Performance

Manchester [UK], July 25: England's opener Zak Crawley shared his insights following his innings on the second day of the ongoing fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 at Old Trafford, Manchester.

On Thursday, Crawley scored an impressive 84 runs off 113 deliveries, featuring 13 boundaries and a six before returning to the pavilion.

Reflecting on his performance, the right-handed batsman stated, as reported by Sky Sports, “I aimed to treat each ball according to its merit. I believe I overthought my approach in previous matches. I need to trust my instincts to defend well and attack in my preferred areas. I felt I executed that today and judged the lengths effectively. Some of my previous dismissals felt half-hearted, appearing aggressive, but lacking conviction. Today, I was more decisive.”

Crawley, in partnership with Ben Duckett, forged a substantial opening stand of 166 runs. Duckett contributed significantly with a stellar innings of 94 runs from 100 balls, including 13 fours.

Commenting on Duckett's performance and their partnership, the 27-year-old remarked, “Duckett is exceptionally talented, an incredible player. We communicate a lot in the middle about our strategy. He has a brilliant understanding of the game and places the ball in areas that are tough to defend against. I focus on staying with him and executing a few solid drives. He leads our partnership.”

Summarizing Day 2 of the Manchester Test, the opening duo of Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley propelled England to a score of 225 runs for the loss of two wickets by the end of the day against India in the fourth Test of the five-match series at Old Trafford.
