Yuvraj Singh's Praise for Indian Cricketers
New Delhi, June 21: Former Indian cricket star Yuvraj Singh has expressed his admiration for Indian Test captain Shubman Gill and wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant following their impressive centuries during the first Test match at Headingley, Leeds, against England.
Yuvraj commended Gill for his remarkable century on his debut as captain, sharing on Instagram, “Leading from the front and taking full responsibility right from the start! Well played @shubmangill! Standing tall on debut as India captain.”
He also celebrated Pant's performance, posting, “Fearless and destructive! Always defining the game on his own terms! Well played, champ.”
In the match, England's Ollie Pope and Ben Duckett aimed for a comeback after Jasprit Bumrah struck early in the second session. Rain interrupted England's innings.
In India's first innings, Gill emerged as the top scorer. England's Ben Stokes and Josh Tongue took eight wickets collectively, helping England regain momentum after lunch.

India surpassed the 400-run mark in the 96th over without losing a wicket when drinks were called. Pant reached his seventh Test century with a six in the 100th over, surpassing former Indian captain MS Dhoni for the most centuries by a wicketkeeper-batter for India.
India resumed the second day at 359/3, with Gill not out on 127 and Pant unbeaten on 62.
