Chaitanya Dhaliwal's Remarkable Achievement

In a significant achievement for Punjab, 19-year-old Chaitanya Dhaliwal, a promising goalkeeper and water polo player from the Punjab Institute of Sports (PIS) Water Polo Centre in Jalandhar, has been chosen to represent India at the upcoming Asian Age Group U-20 Aquatics Championship in Thailand.


Chaitanya has previously been honored with the Best Goalkeeper title at both the Junior Nationals and the All India University Championships.


His coach, Umesh Sharma, praised Chaitanya's remarkable reflexes, defensive capabilities, and consistent performance in goal, which secured him a spot on the national team.


Throughout his athletic journey, Chaitanya has trained at the PIS Water Polo Centre in Jalandhar under Sharma's mentorship for the last eight years. The coach expressed his belief that Chaitanya's dedication and experience would enable him to shine at the continental event and bring pride to the nation.


District Sports Officer Gurpreet Singh extended his congratulations to the young goalkeeper, noting that his relentless effort has finally paid off. He also urged other young athletes to engage in sports and strive for excellence.


Chaitanya is the son of Advocate Tajinder Dhaliwal and Tanvi Dhaliwal.


The Punjab Swimming Association also expressed their congratulations to Chaitanya and his family. CEO Balraj Sharma, president Surjit Singh Sandhu, general secretary Anuj Sharma, and Dhyan Chand Awardee Sushil Kohli all wished him the best of luck at the championship in Thailand.
