Teenagers have seized their chances, delivering remarkable performances against seasoned professionals. With record-setting achievements and strong showings alongside veteran players, these rising stars have demonstrated their readiness for the spotlight. Their accomplishments highlight that age is no barrier when it comes to talent and confidence in professional pickleball.
Among the standout young players this season is 14-year-old Kelly Goodnow, who joined the Carolina Hogs from the player pool during the MLP event in New York. After becoming the youngest athlete to secure a PPA Challenger gold medal, she played a crucial role in leading the Hogs to a 3-1 victory over the Palm Beach Royals. Reflecting on her MLP debut, Goodnow described it as "surreal" and expressed her enthusiasm for the opportunity.
Another impressive young talent is 13-year-old Elsie Hendershot, who made history as the youngest player to win a game in MLP. Competing for the St. Louis Shock, she partnered with Hayden Patriquin to achieve an 11-0 victory during the St. Petersburg event, adding to the list of remarkable youth accomplishments.
