Young Indian Finswimmer Kiyara Agrawal Shines at 2026 World Cup

Kiyara Agrawal's Historic Achievement

Kiyara Sachin Agrawal has made history by becoming the youngest Indian participant at the 2026 CMAS World Cup Finswimming Indoor Youth Championship, which took place at the Halkapınar Olympic Pool in İzmir, Türkiye, from July 2 to July 5, 2026. This remarkable 10-year-old from Maharashtra showcased her talent across various events during the four-day competition. Thanks to her outstanding performance, India secured a silver medal in this prestigious global event.

Her selection for the national team was based on her impressive results at the National Finswimming Competition held in Goa, where she competed against 289 athletes. Under the guidance of coaches Shankar Thapa and Sanket Pawar, Kiyara demonstrated her skills and determination to earn her place on the national team.

A spokesperson from the Underwater Sports Association of India (USAI) expressed pride in Kiyara's achievements, stating, "Every young athlete who steps onto that starting block wearing the tricolour carries with them the hopes of the entire finswimming community back home. Kiyara's performance in İzmir, and India's runner-up finish in the team classification, is a proud moment for Indian underwater sports and a source of inspiration for the next generation of finswimmers."

On the international stage, Kiyara made a significant impact, representing India and the Underwater Sports Association at the 2026 CMAS World Cup Finswimming Indoor. She competed in several events, including the 50m Bifins, 100m Surface (Monofins), 200m Bifins, and 50m Surface (Monofins). A total of 167 athletes participated in the CMAS Izmir World Cup Finswimming Indoor, with Austria emerging as the tournament champions. The Indian Embassy in Turkey extended their best wishes to Kiyara for her future in finswimming, highlighting her achievements on social media.
