Yashaswini Ghorpade's Singles Journey Concludes
Yashaswini Ghorpade's quest for a medal in the women's singles event at the Asian Games 2026 came to an abrupt end on Saturday. She faced a tough opponent in Japan's Miwa Harimoto, currently ranked third in the world, and lost the match with a score of 1-4.
Despite her efforts, Yashaswini struggled against Harimoto's skill, losing the first two games 9-11 and 5-11. However, she made a strong comeback in the third game, winning 11-4, which briefly reignited her hopes in the match.
Unfortunately, Harimoto regained her momentum, taking the fourth game 11-4 and sealing the match with an 11-5 victory in the fifth game.

Earlier in the tournament, Yashaswini advanced to the third round by defeating Hend Zaza from Syria. This exit follows her participation in both the women's doubles and mixed doubles events.
