Yadav and Hussain Share Lead Amidst Heatwave

The intense summer heat impacted performance as only five golfers managed to achieve sub-par scores on the third day of the IGU Telangana Amateur Golf Championship held at the Hyderabad Golf Club. Despite the challenging conditions, Deepak Yadav and Gulfam Hussain, both Railway employees and roommates for the week, emerged as co-leaders with a combined three-day score of seven-under 203.

Performance Highlights

Yadav recorded his second consecutive three-under 67, while Hussain finished with a 69, giving him a narrow one-shot advantage. Ranveer Mitroo (69) and Anshul Mishra (71) are tied for third place at six-under 204. Krish Chawla, who led the first two days, struggled in the heat, posting an unusual four-over 74, which dropped him to a tie for fifth with Shamit Dakhane (70).

Deepak Yadav's Strong Performance

Yadav, currently leading the Order of Merit and seeking his first amateur victory, showcased impressive ball striking and precise approaches. He made his first birdie by chipping within five feet on the fifth hole and followed it up with another birdie on the sixth. The 24-year-old sank a 20-foot putt on the eighth hole, bringing his score to three-under. After the turn, he continued his strong play, hitting a sand wedge tee shot to four feet for another birdie. His only mistake came on the par-16th hole, where he three-putted from 20 feet.

Hussain Stays in Contention

Hussain also faced a bogey on a par-3, where he misjudged his 5-iron tee shot on the 230-yard fourth hole. After chipping past the pin and missing a downhill putt, he quickly recovered with a birdie on the seventh, narrowly missing a hole-in-one. He added another birdie on the 12th hole, as he aims to break his amateur tour jinx.
