WWE Smackdown Highlights: Naomi's Cash-In Attempt Thwarted by Nia Jax
WWE Smackdown Recap: June 13 Episode
This week's episode of WWE Smackdown took place at the Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky, following the Money in the Bank event. Naomi, the winner of the women's Money in the Bank 2025 match, was present and attempted to cash in her contract to become the new champion, but her efforts were unsuccessful.
During the June 13 broadcast, Naomi made her first appearance as Ms. Money in the Bank, addressing the audience. She reminisced about her near victory against Nia Jax for the Women's Championship a few months prior, which was interrupted by Tiffany, who later cashed in her own Money in the Bank briefcase after winning the Ladder Match in 2024.
Naomi's Cash-In Attempt Interrupted
The reigning women's champion, Tiffany Stratton, interrupted Naomi's promo, challenging her to cash in her briefcase immediately for a title match, which excited the crowd. However, Naomi chose to hold off, stating she preferred to wait for the right moment.
As Naomi exited the ring, Nia Jax appeared, still upset from her earlier loss in the WWE Queen of the Ring tournament. She attacked Stratton with her signature move, the An-Nia-hilator, creating a perfect opportunity for Naomi to cash in her briefcase. Yet, Nia's presence forced Naomi to reconsider her decision.

Naomi's Championship Journey
Notably, Naomi has not secured a major singles title in WWE since losing the SmackDown Women's Championship to Natalya Neidhart at SummerSlam 2017. After her release from WWE, she held the TNA Knockouts World Championship in 2023.
Last weekend, Naomi achieved a significant milestone by winning the Miss Money in the Bank 2025 title, outlasting competitors like Rhea Ripley, Alexa Bliss, Giulia, Stephanie Vaquer, and Roxanne Perez. This victory grants her the opportunity to challenge for either Tiffany Stratton’s WWE Women’s Championship on Smackdown or IYO SKY’s WWE Women’s World Championship on Raw at her discretion.
