Following her confrontation with champion Tiffany Stratton last week, Jade Cargill had a backstage encounter where she announced her upcoming match against Nia Jax. This match will determine the number one contender for the WWE Women’s Championship, with a strong possibility that Cargill could face Stratton at Backlash.
In the main event of the May 2 episode, Jade Cargill and WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton triumphed over Nia Jax and Naomi. Despite the victory for the babyfaces, a heel emerged dominant in the end.
Naomi's Dominance in the Main Event
The climax of the match featured Naomi re-entering the fray, engaging in a brawl with Tiffany in the corner. Nia Jax then overpowered both women, pushing them out of the ring before executing a splash on Cargill, setting her up for a finishing move. However, Cargill showcased her incredible strength by countering with a powerbomb, securing the pinfall victory for her team.
After the match concluded, as the referee attempted to hand Tiffany her championship belt, Cargill intercepted it, briefly placing it on her shoulder. This led to a brief tug-of-war over the title, during which Naomi attacked Cargill from behind, causing her to collide with Tiffany. The show ended with Naomi posing triumphantly with the title over a fallen Cargill.
Currently, the match between Cargill and Jax to determine the new challenger for Tiffany Stratton is confirmed for the May 9 episode of WWE Smackdown. However, it appears that Naomi is determined to assert her presence in this match, potentially setting the stage for a fatal four-way encounter at Backlash.
