Exciting Match Announced for WWE Backlash 2025

The fifth match overall and the fourth title contest has been officially announced for the WWE Backlash 2025 premium live event, scheduled for this weekend. During the latest episode of Monday Night Raw, which took place at the CHI Health Center in Omaha, Nebraska, it was revealed that the men’s Intercontinental Championship will be contested at the event.

Current WWE Intercontinental Champion, Dominik Mysterio, is set to defend his title against Penta this Saturday night in St. Louis. This matchup was disclosed during a backstage segment on Raw, where AJ Styles interrupted Dominik and his Judgment Day teammates.

After the announcement of the match for WWE Backlash 2025, Styles made an appearance in the Judgment Day locker room, informing Dominik that he also has his sights set on the IC Title. Dominik suggested that Finn Balor should deal with AJ, given their shared history in WWE. Initially, Finn seemed displeased with this suggestion but later joked that he would take care of Styles.

Dominik Mysterio captured the title in a fatal-4-way match at WrestleMania 41, which also included Penta. He successfully defended his title against Penta on the Raw following WrestleMania 41, thanks to interference from JD McDonagh. On the most recent Raw, Penta defeated McDonagh, setting the stage for their title clash at WWE Backlash 2025, marking Dominik's second title defense.

This newly confirmed title match adds to the WWE Backlash 2025 card, which already features the Women’s Intercontinental Championship match, the Undisputed WWE Championship match, and a fatal-4-way United States Championship match with Gunther facing Pat McAfee.
