Wrestlemania 41 Match Card Updates: Surprising Absences and Final Plans

As of last week, the match cards for both nights of Wrestlemania 41 were nearing completion, with anticipation for a final announcement expected soon. Randy Orton is eager to participate in the event, especially after his initial opponent, Kevin Owens, was ruled out due to injury, prompting WWE to seek a new rival for him.

Notably absent from the Wrestlemania 41 lineup is Chelsea Green, the Women’s United States Champion. Despite her successful debut with the title last December, she has not been included in the match card for either night. Recent updates indicate that there were no definitive plans for her participation.

According to sources from a wrestling news outlet, WWE was queried about any creative plans for Green and her title defense, and it was confirmed that "as of late last week, she was not scheduled for the show."

Initially, there were discussions about featuring Green in a non-wrestling role, including the possibility of her hosting Wrestlemania 41, but this idea did not receive approval. The report mentioned, "We’re told there had been a couple of pitches for her to host the show, but there was nothing there once they reached that weekend."

Further insights from WWE's creative team hinted at a slim chance for Green to appear at Wrestlemania 41 in another capacity, although no segments have been added to the finalized card. One source noted, "Once the show is formatted out, it’s possible that a skit or segment could be added," but clarified that, "as of each of the last two times we’d asked, that wasn’t the case."

Importantly, neither the Women’s United States Championship nor the Intercontinental Championship will be defended at Wrestlemania 41. While Lyra Valkyria, the IC title-holder, will compete for the women’s tag titles, Green will join forces with Secret Hervice (Piper Niven & Alba Fyre) to face Zelina Vega, Katana Chance, and Kayden Carter in a six-woman tag team match on this week’s Smackdown.

Wrestlemania 41 is set to take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, on April 19 and 20. Currently, 13 matches have been confirmed for this highly anticipated event, as outlined below.
