The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially revealed the schedule for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2027. The fifth edition is set to take place from January 14 to February 7, 2027, as per the WPL media advisory.

Significance of WPL

Recognized as the premier T20 league in women's cricket, the WPL has become a vital platform for advancing the sport. It unites top players from India and across the globe, while also providing a stage for emerging talents to showcase their skills at the highest level.

Key Dates for Squad Building

The initial step for the upcoming season will be the Player Retention deadline, set for September 28, 2026. During this time, the five franchises will have the chance to retain players from their current rosters as they strategize for the new season.

Following this, the WPL Player Auction is scheduled for October 28, 2026, at the Grand Hyatt Kochi. This event will allow the franchises to finalize and enhance their squads for the forthcoming edition, according to the media advisory.

Recap of WPL 2026

The previous edition of the WPL took place from January 9 to February 5, 2026, with the inaugural match featuring Mumbai Indians (MI) against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. RCB emerged victorious, securing the WPL 2026 title and marking their second championship win, following their previous triumph in 2024. Mumbai Indians had won the inaugural edition in 2023 and again in 2025.
