Women's ODI World Cup 2025: Key Matches and Schedule Highlights
Exciting Matches Await in Women's ODI World Cup
The much-anticipated Women's ODI World Cup is set to kick off on September 30, with India taking on Sri Lanka in their first match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. A highlight of the tournament will be the high-stakes clash between India and Pakistan, scheduled for October 5 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, chosen as a neutral venue due to ongoing political tensions. India will also face Bangladesh in Bengaluru on October 26.
Defending champions Australia will launch their campaign against New Zealand on October 1 at Holkar Stadium in Indore. They are also slated to meet Pakistan in Colombo on October 8 and will face England in Indore on October 22, a rematch of the previous final.
According to the hybrid hosting agreement between the BCCI and PCB, all of Pakistan's matches will occur in Colombo. Their schedule includes games against:
Pakistan's Match Schedule
| Opponent | Date |
|---|---|
| Bangladesh | October 2 |
| Australia | October 8 |
| England | October 15 |
| New Zealand | October 18 |
| South Africa | October 21 |
| Sri Lanka | October 24 |
England will compete against South Africa in Bengaluru on October 3, followed by matches against Sri Lanka on October 11 and New Zealand on October 26 at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati.
Bangladesh will start their tournament against Pakistan and will play three additional matches at the ACA–VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam, including a game against Sri Lanka on October 20 in Colombo.
South Africa is gearing up for crucial matches against New Zealand on October 6 and Australia on October 25, both set to take place in Indore.
Political Tensions Affecting Match Venues
Due to strained diplomatic relations, Pakistan's matches are being held at neutral venues, as India declined to travel to Pakistan for the tournament. This follows a precedent from the 2025 Champions Trophy, where India played its matches in Dubai despite Pakistan being the official host. In response, the PCB has suggested that Pakistan may refrain from touring India for future tournaments.
The tournament will consist of 28 league matches, culminating in three knockout games, with venues spread across Bengaluru, Indore, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, and Colombo.
The first semi-final is set for October 29 in Guwahati, but if Pakistan qualifies, it will be relocated to Colombo for security and diplomatic considerations.
The second semi-final is scheduled for October 30 in Bengaluru, while the final will occur on November 2, with the venue still to be determined between Bengaluru and Colombo.
