Rescheduling of the Women's Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2025

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has announced a postponement of the Women's Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2025, which was originally scheduled to commence on June 6 in Sri Lanka. The tournament will now take place at a later date.

This decision follows a request from Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), citing adverse weather conditions and health issues as the primary reasons for the delay.

Mr. Mohsin Raza Naqvi, President of the Asian Cricket Council, stated:

"The ACC is dedicated to creating opportunities for young female cricketers to enhance their skills and compete at the highest levels."

He further emphasized:

"We recognize the importance of this tournament in shaping the future of women's cricket in Asia, and we are committed to rescheduling it as soon as possible."

There were concerns regarding India's participation in the tournament following a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir in April, which resulted in the deaths of 26 foreign tourists. In response, India conducted military operations in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, raising doubts about their involvement.

However, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia clarified that the postponement was not related to these tensions, attributing it solely to weather and health factors.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia stated:

"There has been no discussion or decision to withdraw from any ACC event. Our current focus remains on the Indian Premier League and the upcoming series against England for both the men's and women's teams."

The inaugural edition of this tournament was held in Hong Kong in 2023, where India A triumphed over Bangladesh A by 31 runs in the final. The participating teams included India A, Bangladesh A, Pakistan A, Sri Lanka A, UAE, Nepal, Hong Kong (the hosts), and Malaysia, with some matches being abandoned due to rain.
