Shimla: The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, announced a reward of Rs 1 crore for Renuka Thakur, an Indian pacer from the Rohru region, who played a pivotal role in the Indian Women's cricket team's historic World Cup victory.

In a phone call, Sukhu congratulated Renuka and the entire squad for their remarkable achievement in clinching their first World Cup title. He expressed his excitement, stating that he watched both the semi-final and final matches, praising the team's outstanding performance.

Renuka's mother, Sunita Thakur, overwhelmed with emotion, expressed her desire for every parent to support their daughters in their ambitions. She reminisced about Renuka's childhood, where she played cricket with makeshift equipment, and shared the family's joy over India's World Cup win.

Vinod Thakur, Renuka's brother, also shared his pride, stating, "I am proud of my sister. We watched the entire match, and her bowling was exceptional. We reached out to congratulate her right after the game."

Hailing from the small village of Parsa in Rohru, Renuka has made significant strides in her cricketing career. The Indian Women's Cricket Team triumphed in the 2025 Women's World Cup held in Mumbai, defeating South Africa.
