Celebrating Jyotsna Sabar's Remarkable Achievement
Bhubaneswar: On Friday, Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi extended his heartfelt congratulations to Jyotsna Sabar, a tribal athlete, for receiving the prestigious Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar from President Droupadi Murmu.
Hailing from the Gajapati district, Sabar made headlines by setting a youth Asian record during the Asian Youth Weightlifting Championships in Doha in 2024.
She excelled in her category, securing gold medals in the snatch (60 kg), clean and jerk (75 kg), and overall with a total lift of 135 kg in the 40 kg weight class.
In a post on X, Majhi expressed, “Warmest congratulations to Jyotsna Sabar, a true pride of Odisha, on being honored with the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar by Hon’ble President Smt. Droupadi Murmu Ji. Her rise from a remote tribal area in Gajapati to the heights of international weightlifting is nothing short of remarkable.”
The Chief Minister emphasized that her achievements, including setting the Asian Youth Record and winning medals at various championships, have brought significant pride to both Odisha and the country.
He noted that her success showcases the determination and boundless potential of the youth, assuring that Odisha stands firmly behind her as she continues to inspire and achieve new heights.
