Investigation into Zubeen Garg's Death Intensifies


Guwahati: The Special Investigating Team (SIT) of Assam Police has ramped up its efforts in the inquiry surrounding the death of renowned singer Zubeen Garg. On Thursday, officials reported that the SIT executed separate searches at the homes of Shyamkanu Mahanta, the organizer of the Northeast India Festival, and his manager, Siddhartha Sharma.


The SIT team arrived at Mahanta's residence in Geetanagar, but found only two helpers present, as no family members were at home.

Meanwhile, another team visited Sharma's apartment located in the Dhirenpara area, only to discover it was locked. With a magistrate present, they broke the lock and proceeded with their search.


Residents noted that Sharma's family members, including his mother, brother, and sister, had not been seen since the day of Zubeen's passing.


The Assam government has established a 10-member SIT, headed by Special DGP M P Gupta, to delve into the circumstances surrounding the singer's tragic drowning in Singapore on September 19, where he had traveled to perform at the festival.
