Angkrish Raghuvanshi Fined for Outburst During IPL Match
Lucknow: During an IPL match against the Lucknow Super Giants, Kolkata Knight Riders' batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi faced a fine of 20% of his match fee due to an emotional reaction after being ruled out for obstructing the field.
The match concluded with KKR securing victory in a Super Over on Sunday night.
According to an IPL announcement, "Angkrish Raghuvanshi, batter and wicket-keeper for Kolkata Knight Riders, has been penalized 20% of his match fee and has received one Demerit Point for violating Level 1 of the IPL's Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials during Match No. 38 against Lucknow Super Giants."
The statement further elaborated that Raghuvanshi breached Article 2.2 of the IPL's Code of Conduct, which pertains to the "abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment, or fixtures and fittings during a Match."
The incident unfolded in the fifth over when Raghuvanshi, after being declared out for 'obstructing the field', reacted by hitting the boundary cushion with his bat forcefully and subsequently tossed his helmet into the dugout.
Raghuvanshi acknowledged his wrongdoing and accepted the penalty imposed by the Match Referee.
