Air India Express Flight Returns to Delhi

New Delhi: An Air India Express flight, IX-2564, scheduled to travel from Delhi to Srinagar with a stop in Jammu, had to return to the capital due to a technical malfunction.

Officials reported that the flight was expected to touch down in Jammu around noon but instead circled the airport for a while before the pilot opted to head back to Delhi.

The aircraft had already performed several loops in the airspace above Jammu prior to its return.

An Air India Express representative stated, “We arranged for an alternative aircraft to operate the Delhi–Jammu route after the initial plane returned to Delhi due to a technical issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.”

This incident follows a chaotic situation at Patna Airport involving another Air India Express flight just a day earlier.

Flight IX2936, which arrived from Bengaluru with 180 passengers, landed in Patna on Sunday morning around 8:30 a.m.

Passengers reported that after both flights landed simultaneously, announcements were made regarding the baggage claim areas.

However, many were dismayed to discover that their checked luggage was missing.

An announcement instructed passengers to retrieve their bags from Belt No. 4, but as they waited, no luggage appeared. Upon inquiry, airline personnel explained that the bags had not been loaded due to weight restrictions on the aircraft.

This explanation sparked unrest among the passengers, leading to protests at the airport, according to media reports.

Air India Express ground staff and CISF officials were called in to help calm the agitated travelers.

Many passengers were visibly distressed, particularly those with connecting flights, compounding their frustrations, as reported.

Media sources indicated that airline staff took down the contact information of affected passengers, promising that their luggage would be delivered to their homes.
