Departure Plans for West Indies and South Africa Teams

Kolkata: The cricket teams from West Indies and South Africa are set to return home from India on Tuesday after facing challenges in their T20 World Cup journeys, primarily due to travel limitations linked to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Reports indicate that West Indies' head coach, Darren Sammy, will depart tonight via Singapore, while the rest of the team is scheduled to fly out on Tuesday using a chartered flight.

Meanwhile, the South African team will head to Johannesburg from Kolkata.

Notably, three players from South Africa—Keshav Maharaj, George Linde, and Jason Smith—have already traveled to New Zealand for an upcoming bilateral series that features five T20 matches starting on March 15.

The alteration in their travel arrangements stems from the closure of airspace in regions close to West Asia due to the crisis.

The West Indies team has been in Kolkata since their defeat to India in the Super Eight on March 1, while South Africa remained after losing to New Zealand in the semi-final on March 4.
