Lions Rally to Set a Competitive Total

Stand-in Captain Ayush Doseja showcased his skills with a match-winning half-century, leading the West Delhi Lions to a 19-run victory against the New Delhi Tigers in Match 3 of the Delhi Premier League 2026, held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday.

The New Delhi Tigers chose to bowl first and quickly made their mark. Pradyuman Sanan and Hrithik Shokeen struck early, dismissing the West Delhi openers and putting the defending champions in a precarious position.

However, Ayush Doseja spearheaded a remarkable recovery, scoring an impressive 84 runs off 52 balls, which included 10 fours and 2 sixes. Mayank Gusain also played a vital role, finishing the innings with an unbeaten 46 runs from 35 balls, featuring 4 sixes, helping the Lions reach a total of 170 for 5.

Tigers Struggle in Run Chase Despite Sehrawat's Efforts

In pursuit of 171 runs, the New Delhi Tigers faced a challenging start, collapsing to 28 for 4 by the end of the powerplay. Aryan Sharma and Vaibhav Rawal attempted to stabilize the innings with a partnership of 41 runs.

Just as the Tigers seemed to regain their footing, Manan Bhardwaj struck twice in quick succession, dismissing Sharma for 31 and Hrithik Shokeen for a golden duck.

Despite the mounting pressure, Manan Sehrawat emerged as a beacon of hope, scoring a brisk 51 runs off just 26 balls. Nevertheless, the West Delhi Lions held their nerve in the final overs, clinching the victory and commencing their campaign on a high note.

Kulwant Khejroliya and Manan Bhardwaj were instrumental with the ball, each taking three wickets, while Shubham Dubey and Mayank Gusain contributed with two wickets apiece.
