Dominant Victory in Pune

Vivin Singh Rana and Sudarshan Dhakne triumphed in the Intermediate Men’s Doubles category, defeating Aadya Parasnis and Anuj Bhave with a score of 21-10 in the finals of the Picklebay Zonals – West, a PWR 700 event recognized by the Indian Pickleball Association. This decisive match took place on March 11 at Dink in Hinjewadi, Pune. The duo showcased a commanding performance, taking control early on and securing the gold medal with ease.

Throughout the match, Rana and Dhakne applied relentless pressure, forcing their opponents into a defensive position. Their excellent teamwork and precise shot-making allowed them to establish a significant lead, which they maintained comfortably to finish the final with a solid margin. This victory capped off a remarkable and consistent performance by the pair throughout the tournament.

In a post-match interview, Dhakne expressed his enjoyment of the tournament, stating, “It was a very good experience. We had a lot of fun playing here. The tournament was well organized and even finished ahead of schedule, which is rare. Ending with a gold medal is the icing on the cake.”

Rana attributed their success to their long-standing partnership, saying, “We have great chemistry. We’ve been playing together since we started, which helps us understand each other’s game intuitively. We don’t have to overthink on the court; we just play naturally, and it works.”

He also shared insights on what drives him to continue competing in pickleball: “While it can be frustrating at times, it’s also very addictive. There are moments when you miss shots and feel like quitting, but you always find your way back to the court. It’s a fun sport that keeps you motivated.”

Following their success in Pune, the duo is now focused on their next challenge. “We are looking forward to participating in the Indian Open in Hyderabad next. We hope to secure another gold there,” Rana mentioned. Notably, Rana had an impressive tournament, winning two gold medals, including the Intermediate Mixed Doubles event alongside Dhakne.
