Sehwag's Warm Wishes for the 'Master Blaster'

On the occasion of Sachin Tendulkar's 53rd birthday, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag took to Instagram to express his admiration for his long-time opening partner. Sehwag fondly remembered receiving invaluable advice from the 'Master Blaster,' although he humorously noted that he often strayed from that guidance, particularly when it came to tempering his aggressive batting style. He affectionately referred to Tendulkar as 'cricket ka bhagwaan' (God of Cricket), stating, 'The man who provided me with the best advice, which I sometimes ignored. Both approaches worked. That's the mark of his greatness. There’s no guide to achieving greatness, but if there were, it would simply involve watching Sachin paaji play for 24 years. Happy birthday @sachintendulkar paaji. Wishing you a wonderful year and life ahead. A true cricketing deity is born only once.'

A Legendary Opening Partnership

Sehwag and Tendulkar formed one of the most formidable opening partnerships in Indian cricket history. In One Day Internationals (ODIs), they played together in 114 innings, accumulating a remarkable 4,387 runs at an average of 39.16, which included 13 century partnerships and 18 half-century partnerships.

Unmatched Career Records

Sachin Tendulkar, with an astounding total of 34,357 runs in international cricket, is recognized as the most prolific batsman in the sport's history. Throughout his illustrious career, he consistently broke records, establishing benchmarks that remain unbroken.

His career includes 200 Test matches, the highest number for any player, where he scored 15,921 runs, 51 centuries, and 2,058 fours, the most in Test cricket.

Known as India's 'God of Cricket,' Tendulkar was also the fastest player to reach 15,000 Test runs, achieving this milestone in just 300 innings, a record he uniquely holds.

With a career spanning over 22 years and 91 days, he boasts the longest ODI career. In 1998, he scored 1,894 runs and hit nine centuries, setting the record for the most runs and centuries in a single calendar year, a feat that remains unmatched.

Tendulkar's accolades include the highest number of Player of the Match awards (76), the most runs in a career (34,357), the most fifties (264), the most nineties (28), and the most fours (4,076) across all formats.
