Kohli's Centuries Ignite Ticket Sales

The third and final ODI between India and South Africa in Vishakhapatnam saw tickets sell out almost instantly after star player Virat Kohli scored two consecutive centuries in the earlier matches held in Ranchi and Raipur.

Kohli made a spectacular return to the national team, scoring 135 runs in a thrilling 17-run victory over South Africa in Ranchi. He continued his impressive form in the second ODI, where he hit 102 runs off 93 balls, marking his 53rd ODI century and 84th in international cricket. Unfortunately, despite his efforts, India's bowlers could not defend a total of 358 runs, allowing South Africa to chase down the target with just four balls remaining.

Fans Eager for Kohli's Next Performance

Kohli's remarkable back-to-back centuries have thrilled fans, showcasing his commitment to being a key player in India's ODI strategy leading up to the 2027 World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.

The excitement surrounding Kohli's performance led to a significant increase in ticket demand for the final ODI in Vizag, with fans quickly purchasing all available tickets. The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) reported that initial ticket sales were slow, but after Kohli's century in Ranchi, the remaining tickets disappeared within minutes.

Y. Venkatesh from ACA's Media and Operations team noted, 'The first phase of tickets went on sale on November 28, and the response was lukewarm. However, after Kohli's performance in Ranchi, the subsequent phases sold out almost immediately.'

Kohli's Impressive Record in Vizag

Virat Kohli has an outstanding record at Dr. YS Rajashekhara Reddy International Stadium in Vizag, accumulating 587 runs, including three centuries and two fifties, with an impressive average of 97.83 over seven matches, solidifying Vizag as one of his preferred venues for ODIs.

Looking Ahead to the Final ODI

With two centuries under his belt, Kohli aims to deliver another exceptional performance in the final ODI against South Africa in Vishakhapatnam. The former captain is determined to strengthen his position in India's ODI plans for the upcoming 2027 World Cup.

While Kohli has not officially confirmed his participation in the World Cup, his recent performances indicate he is preparing for a serious bid for selection.

Following the final ODI on Saturday, December 6, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) plans to meet with Kohli, selectors, and head coach Gautam Gambhir to discuss his future and the team's strategy for the 2027 World Cup.

Additionally, Kohli is set to return to play for Delhi in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy, having informed the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) of his availability after previous reports suggested he might skip the tournament due to tensions with Gautam Gambhir.
