Virat Kohli's Journey from School to Cricket Stardom

Early Aspirations of a Cricket Legend
Virat Kohli, the star batter for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), had a dream of becoming a cricketer, as recalled by his former teacher from Vishal Bharti Public School. Widely regarded as one of the finest batters in contemporary cricket, the 36-year-old is currently competing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
Educational Pathway to Cricket
Kohli attended Vishal Bharti Public School until the ninth grade before transferring to Saviour Convent School in Paschim Vihar. This move was aimed at completing his 10th-grade education while intensifying his cricket training and commitments. After finishing his 10th grade, he dedicated himself entirely to cricket, joining the West Delhi Cricket Academy and soon representing Delhi in various age-group tournaments, eventually making his way to the senior team in domestic cricket.
Teacher's Memories of Kohli
Vibha Sachdev, a teacher at Vishal Bharti Public School, described Kohli as a 'bright' and 'determined' student, noting his expressive eyes. She fondly remembered him as an enthusiastic participant in school activities, stating, "Virat was always eager to engage in interhouse competitions."
Kohli's Aspirations to Emulate Tendulkar
Reflecting on Kohli's childhood ambitions, Sachdev shared that he often expressed his desire to be the next Sachin Tendulkar. She mentioned that he was an above-average student, occasionally losing marks due to his commitment to cricket. "He would often say, 'Ma'am, I will be the next Sachin Tendulkar of the Indian Team,' which made us smile at his confidence and determination," she recalled.
Kohli's Academic and Athletic Balance
Sachdev noted that Kohli frequently mentioned preparing for exams after returning from cricket practice. She emphasized that he excelled in both academics and sports, and the school provided him with additional support to help balance both pursuits. "He worked diligently to succeed in both areas, and the teachers at Vishal Bharti Public School were very understanding of his challenges," she concluded.
Kohli's Current IPL Performance
Currently, Virat Kohli is in exceptional form during the IPL season, having scored 505 runs, including seven fifties, with an impressive average of 63.12 over 11 matches. He is in contention for the Orange Cap, having previously secured it last season with a total of 741 runs, which included a century and five fifties, averaging 61.75 across 15 matches.
