Virat Kohli Shines with Explosive 62 in RCB's IPL Clash Against CSK

Kohli's Stellar Performance at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium

On Saturday, Virat Kohli lit up the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium with a remarkable innings of 62 runs off just 33 balls during the IPL 2025 match between RCB and CSK on May 3. His innings came to an end in the 12th over when he attempted an upper cut and was caught by Khaleel Ahmed at backward point off the bowling of Sam Curran.

Khaleel displayed his frustration after the catch by slamming the ball onto the ground. This marked Kohli's seventh fifty or more in the current season, and notably, he has achieved four of these against CSK at this venue.

During his innings, Kohli set a new IPL record by surpassing David Warner's previous high of 1134 runs against the Punjab Kings. He now holds the record for the most runs scored by a player against a single team, with a total of 1146 runs against CSK, 1130 against Delhi Capitals, and 1104 against Punjab Kings.

Earlier in the match, CSK captain MS Dhoni won the toss and opted to bowl first. However, RCB's openers, Kohli and Bethell, took full advantage of the conditions in Bengaluru, delivering an explosive start.

Bethell achieved his first IPL half-century with a reverse-sweep boundary off Ravindra Jadeja in the ninth over but was dismissed shortly after, scoring 55 runs off 33 balls. Together, they forged a solid partnership, accumulating 97 runs in just 59 balls, laying a strong foundation for the home team.

The RCB squad, led by Rajat Patidar, was without their pace spearhead Josh Hazlewood for this match, with South African Lungi Ngidi stepping in to make his debut.
