Kohli's Stellar Performance Amid Selection Speculations

Virat Kohli is responding to ongoing speculation about his place in the Indian team for the 2027 World Cup through his impressive performances with the bat. After being dismissed for a duck in two consecutive matches during the Australia tour, Kohli has made a remarkable comeback in competitive cricket. He has scored two centuries and two half-centuries in his last four international outings. His domestic cricket form remains strong as well, representing Delhi, where he scored 131 runs against Andhra Pradesh in the opening match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy and followed it up with a brisk 77 runs against Gujarat.

Kohli's Focus on ODI Cricket

The veteran batsman has retired from Test and T20 formats, focusing solely on ODIs for India. His childhood coach, Rajkumar Sharma, believes that Kohli is well-prepared for the upcoming ODI World Cup in Africa. Sharma stated, "He (Kohli) is in fantastic form and has maintained it. He played exceptionally well and ensured Delhi's victory. After a long time, he played domestic cricket and delivered a remarkable innings. He has scored centuries in his last two matches and is the most consistently performing player for the Indian team. In my opinion, he is fully ready for the World Cup."

Defending Kohli's Comeback

Sharma also defended Kohli's quiet return to international cricket earlier this year, citing his incredible record and emphasizing that a few poor innings do not define a player's ability. He remarked that Kohli is a great player who understands the necessary adjustments to his batting. While he may have had a couple of off innings, it does not imply he has lost his rhythm. Kohli's record speaks volumes about his capabilities. He is set to return to international cricket in January when New Zealand tours India for three ODIs and five T20 internationals.
